Hamster Swollen Testicle

Hi there,

I think I may have posted this twice but I don’t know how to navigate this website.
My hamster has developed suddenly a swollen testicle. It is red, swelling, and appears black in the middle. From one angle it appears to contain pus.
I have an appointment with the vet booked for Monday, but am extremely concerned.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi the pics are not showing but if things are as you describe it does sound as if he needs seen sooner rather than later. It sounds like there is an abscess on the testicles and this would need at least antibiotics if not draining to relieve the pain. They can also get a torsion when the testicle twists. Could you email the pics to the vet or find one open on a Saturday who can see him sooner?

Hi I got an emergency appointment after I received your message. The vet has given me painkillers and antibiotics and with orders to go back in three days if they’ve continued to swell.
