Unhappy Fainting hamster?

Our hamster, Bear was active last night on my lap. Suddenly she just flopped over and was still. She opened and closed her eyes and her tail was upright. I thought she had a stroke or was dying but she is only 8 months old. After a couple of minutes she put her head up and down and then got up like nothing had happened! Straight back to normal and eating and drinking. Walking normally so I don’t think it was a stroke? Does anyone have any idea what happened?

Default Re: Fainting hamster?

It sounds very like something that happened to one of my first Chinese Hamsters. I honestly thought he was dying but the next thing I knew, he was up and about like nothing had happened.

I concluded that it was either a minor stroke or some kind of seizure but he never had another episode like that until he had what was definitely a stroke in his old age.

The other thing that makes me wonder if it's something heart related, particularly if she was very active just before it happened.
