Hi. Is she actually only 10 to 11 days old? If so she is tiny baby. They don’t normally go to homes until they are 6 weeks old. Some hamsters are more vocal than others and can squeak especially if having a dream or make other noises. Sometimes they squeak if something has frightened them. With such a tiny baby hamster you will need to avoid disturbing her cage and nest until she is more confident and settled. Keep talking to her though as she will start to bond with you that way.

Can you see if she is ok or is she in her nest? Try putting a smelly treat (eg cucumber) in front of her house and see if she comes out to get it and stops making noises. Although she might not if she is asleep. Try not to worry and see how she is tomorrow.

I’m wondering if you mean you’ve had her 10-11 days & only just noticed this?
What species is she? Most of my Russian hams have made odd squeaky noises in their sleep & I think some Syrians do to, squeaking when you woke her is totally normal.
If she’s fine in herself & not making any usual breathing noises when she’s up & about then it’s most likely nothing to be worried about.

Glad to hear she is ok now How long have you had her? It would help us to know if she is only 10 to 11 days old or if you have only had her for 10 to 11 days and the age she was when you got her.

Hello, I'm sorry your posts weren't approved as soon as you posted. For each new member the first few posts go to a moderation area. Due to differences in time zones, this means a moderator may not always be around to check when you post so there is a delay in them being approved.

We would also recommend that if you are concerned for the medical health of your pet that you don't rely on the forum for answers and contact your local vet as soon as possible. The advice we provide isn't intended to be a substitute for a qualified vet.

Best wishes
