Default Short haired Syrian with matted fur

Good evening all.

In the last couple of days I've noticed that my 1 year old short haired syrian has matted fur on her sides. It's dry to the touch so it's not a case that she's just been washing. I read that it could be a sign of a cold but she's still active, running on her wheel, and has an appetite and seems fine in herself. Her cage is clean too. Should I be worried?

Hi Shadow Cat, My first thought is it where her scent glands are? If so have you cleaned her out recently?

I'm only asking because you said it is on both sides, so it made me think she is marking her territory.

It sounds like her scent glands to me too so probably nothing to worry about.
