Re: Syrian Scent Glands
This might sound daft but last night me & John noticed that Fudge's fur around his glands was really wet.
Now Gizzy is in her cage close by. She is a dwarf, but would Fudge even though he is a Syrian, still sense she is a female albeit a different species of hamster?

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
i'm not sure about that?
I can't say about whether porridge or treo react to Peggy cause shes stopped coming into season now at her age.
But i do know some people have syrians that get very wet glands even when they rae the only hamster in the house!

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
Once again I'm going to say how much I love this forum. I was just tickling Chew and felt a lump on him. On closer inspection I noted it was pigmented. I started panicking and then realised it was his glands!! This thread has confirmed this Ever need any pictures of pigmented bits, his boy area is very dark too lol.
Poor pickle, getting prodded and poked by captain paranoid here! x
Oh and edit to add, he often runs along the back of the sofa against the wall rubbing his glands on the wall. So I knew they were there. I've just never got through his fur to see them before!

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
Yes that is OK Tita. It varies how coloured they are depending on the colour ofthe hamster. Greys and goldens are often dark from birth

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
Patch seems to have quite big scent glands, he is always rubbing his scent everywhere, then he always shakes (like a dog shaking the water off!). We call it "rub 'n' buzz"
