Re: Syrian Scent Glands
If you have female hamster a male can smell then they often secrete more scent and have wet looking glands especially when the females are in season
Sarah they are not so obvious in all hamsters and we chose this hamster as he shows them off well! Also because the satin coat is fine you see them more clearly
Pawsy has gone to bridge now but he lived till nearly three and was very healthy all his life.

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
Thanks for posting that, it's good to see! I was wondering too about my boy Billy, who seems to be in his prime and secret a lot, the glants seemed to have 'increased', but they do look pretty much exactly like Paw's and now i know it's all in the normal realms!

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
Do females have scent glands on the back kind of between their shoulder blades? I ask this because everytime Maisie is in season she gets a greasy/wet looking spot on her back??

Re: Syrian Scent Glands
No they don't have scent gland there. They are in the same place as males but usually less noticeable in females.
Females do however tend to rub themselves along things when in season though so mabe she is pressing herself against something and spreading some greasy scent over this area?
