Default Do Hybrids have a shorter life span?

I just saw this post on another website about how hybrids typically don’t live for more than a 1 1/2 years and I’m just curious if that’s true or not. Anyone with knowledge on hybrids know?

There are people on here that know more about hybrids than me but the answer is it is uncertain really. Commonly they often don’t live past 18 months due to health issues and sometimes diabetes (which they are prone to do need a sugar free diet). They are a genetical mix of two species over many years of interbreeding so can be more prone to genetically inherited issues. But they make lovely pets and some can live to about 2 and not have many health issues until old age. 18 months is considered old for any hamster though.

I don’t think there’s a simple answer to that as how long Syrians live can vary a lot too, I’ve had hybrids that lived till very close to two & one two years & 7 months, others that died younger due to health issues so a lot of variation really.
I generally think of mine as beginning to age at 18 months but expect them to live longer if they don’t have any major health issues.

Lifespan really seems to vary a lot but if a hamster is in good health then I don't see any reason why they shouldn't go on to live longer than 18 months and my sister's hybrid lived until she was about 2 and half, which has, been longer than some of my Chinese and Roborovski.

Thanks, y’all. I have a hybrid now (I think I’m not totally sure as I’m her 4th owner) and she’s about 1 yr and she seems to be in perfect health and still acting like a very young hamster. I was just curious as to what others have experienced with them since she’s my first ever dwarf
