Is Camomile safe?
My vet has suggested I use camomile tea as an antiseptic for Hojis eye infection. I'd never heard of this so was just wondering if anyone else had any experience doing this (told to wipe his eye with it)
Also, I'm using cotton buds for eye drops, I'm just a little concerned that won't be as effective as using straight in the eye, will it still work?
Thanks

Re: Is Camomile safe?
Camomile is an ancient herbal remedy and an infusion does have a soothing effect. I inhale it when i have a cold. Camomile cream is widely used on the continent for its healing properties.
I'd ask the vet about how best to administer the eye drops but wouldn't use cotton buds because they could leave a bit of fibre behind which could irritate. Didn't they give you a pipette? They're usually attached to the top of the bottle.

Re: Is Camomile safe?
Do you mean you are just wiping the eye drops over his eye, you need to drop it into his eyeball because otherwise it won’t work

Re: Is Camomile safe?
Sorry for lack of a reply, I had been told to just wipe it over his eye but after reading your post and using common sense realised it defo needed to be in. He's been a pain in the butt with it and I've tried every method under the sun. The best I've managed to get is dropping it on my finger then into his eye that way as dropping it is not panning out... We're having good and bad days, sometimes I get enough in sometimes his majesty has other ideas

Re: Is Camomile safe?
I am sure you are doing the right thing, they are so tiny and you don’t want to make him stressed so it he doesn’t want to be still then dropping it in the area and it will make its own way in. Have you tried it in your own eye just to see if it stings or not? I think I would
