How long should I continue giving my dwarf Metacam?
Ive been giving my hamster metacam for maybe around a month now as the vet advised me to. Problem is the vet never told me when to stop giving him the medication and hasnt called me back despite saying she would. Does anyone have any idea if I should stop giving him it or not?

Re: How long should I continue giving my dwarf Metacam?
What was your hamster prescribed metacam for? If the cause for needing metacam -ie an injury for example- is now gone because the hamster is better then the metacam is no longer needed. If, however, it was prescribed due to an ongoing painful or inflammatory condition then it may need to be continued indefinitely.
While never ideal, there are instances where metacam is prescribed on an ongoing basis. The key is that the dosage must be correctly calculated by the vet depending on the hamster's weight.
As a pet owner, you have EVERY right to phone the vet again (and again if they still don't get back to you) to ask them.

Re: How long should I continue giving my dwarf Metacam?
It was to help with his issues hes getting later on in life to provide potential pain relief as he may have a neurological condition so I should probably keep going? Also is it okay to order metacam online for cheaper and give that to him instead of a repeat prescription and is it bad to wake him up to give him his medication? I try to leave it as late I can to wake him so as not to stress him too much but I still feel bad

If it is pain relief for a chronic condition, then your hamster could may well be on it for life but I would ring your vet to get confirmation of this. Also, if you need a repeat prescription you will probably need to speak to them anyway.
Personally I buy my hamster medicine from the vets as buying online you don't always know where it is coming from or if it is knock off. I guess it would depend where abouts online oyu are buying it from, also you would need to make sure it was the right strength etc(I don't know if metacam comes in different strengths)
For short term, I would wake my hamster up to give medicine, for my hamsters that have been on baytrill or metacam for long term i.e for illnesses related to old age I put it in babyfood and just slip it into where they sleep and they just eat it when they wake up. You do need to make sure your hamster is eating the babyfood with the medicine in it though.

I think the only person who can answer your questions is the vet who prescribed it.

Yeah Ill try ringing the vets on Monday. Bit odd she didn’t specify in the first place and I’ll try putting it in his food but he sometimes doesnt eat it all so I’ll have to be a little careful

Usually a vet will say a week and if no change to continue, that's what I've been advised in the past. If you are to continue then maybe put it in with baby food or mash some veggies. I wouldn't order metacam online, I'd leave that to the vet as they're the experts in animal care.
