Lethargic hamster but was energetic yesterday
Hello Everyone,
I am new to this site and would like some feedback on my hamster's health.
On tuesday, 2 days ago, my hamster was really energetic and running around like normal.
Yesterday he did not want to wake up at all to run on his wheel and he did not eaten either. I then noticed him walking VERY slowly. Could it be possible that he has a broken leg? I tried to monitor his walking but it is tricky to see if it's actually broken or not internally. He also has some gunk coming out of his eye that caused his eye to shut, I already cleaned it off. He is now sleeping every hour of the day. I am very worried since it was such a big change from Tuesday when he was all hyper. He will be 2 in July. This is the third hamster ive had and this has never happened before. I was thinking of taking him to the vet but I am a university student and it is very costly. Last time I took him to the vet for a check up she charged me $150 for a 15 min appointment.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, he is a syrian hamster btw
Thank you
Jess

Re: Lethargic hamster but was energetic yesterday
Was he limping or just moving slowly? Is it likely that he may have had a fall, for instance is your cage tall & does he climb?
He could be moving slowly because he's unwell equally as much as from an injury.
It's impossible to say what the problem might be but it does sound as though he probably needs to be seen by a vet.
