Unhappy Overdrinking

Hey guys, so I noticed that my hamster Hilo, drinks A LOT of water. He drinks the most at night, and drinks more water than my past hamsters. He's a Syrian male that's 3-4 months old. I know that hamsters only need small amounts of water, but he drinks a lot more. He does not have any signs of sickness and is active and eating. I'm just worried and would like some help. Thanks a lot.

His water bottle seems to be fine, as I checked it this morning.

He is likely chewing the spout. It is addictive and it can cause many problems and will make his blood chemistry out of balance and strain his kidneys as he takes in too much water. Remove the bottle and replace with a small bowl and see if his drinking and peeing so much stops. If he continues to drink a lot when he has a bowl then it is best to see a vet for a full check up to find the cause of the drinking. If it stops it we can advise on reintroducing the bottle later on but you need to use the bowl for a month now. Remember to check it frequently for any contamination and refresh the water often.
