My hamster is very weak! :(
Hi all! I am a new member of hamster central and need some advice.
Few days ago my syrian hamster started looking very week, it’s kind of a sleepy state. He comes out to eat and when I call him he looks for me and for food.
He walks but very clumsy and he can barely climb to his food dish and water. Autumn started around here and it’s been colder, but at home it’s not cold. Maybe around 20 degrees. Do you think he is in a kind of hibernating behaviour or does he sounds ill?
I will appreciate all the help you can give me! I am worried about him. He is only 6 months old.

Re: My hamster is very weak! :(
At that sort of temperature he won't be hibernating. Any behavior change like this may well mean he's not feeling well so I would see a vet as soon as possible.
A six month old should definitely not be like that. I hope you can have him seen soon.

Thanks for your reply! I will take him to the VET asap. I am so worried, its hard to see him so weak. He still wants to climb out of his cage and sit on my lap, but he struggles a lot. I have to help him.
I don’t know what this might be. 😭

Re: My hamster is very weak! :(
Have you checked his water bottle to make sure it is working?
I'd move his food and water somewhere easy to get to so he doesn't have to climb to get to it.
Hope the vet will be able to find out what's wrong with your hamster and treat him.
