Unhappy Help !!!!!

Can an abscess be self cured by a hamster ?
Most will say no but what about wild hamsters when they have an abscess?
Secondly I recently found my Campbell has a reddish abscess just below it's eyes. I don't have a exotic vet in my area and what worries me is that my hamster is pregnant
Is abscess fatal?
Any suggestions??

Even if you haven't got an exotic vet can you ring round your local vets and see if they will help. The abscess may need draining/lancing and/or antibiotics given.

I'm guessing that many hamsters in the wild that get ill will certainly become weaker over time and sadly end up dying. Just nature taking it's course.

As you suggested to GingerHamster, cleaning it with saline solution will help heal it. Even if you don’t have an exotic vet, most vets should have basic experience with small animals and be able to prescribe antibiotics.

Rarely hamsters can fight off the infection themselves but in most cases it will just keep getting worse without medical attention unfortunately. These hamsters in the wild would either die from illness, be culled by the colony (if a dwarf hamster), or become an easy target for predators
