Nail biting solition
Can you use the stuff you paint on nails to stop you biting them on hamster cage bars to stop them biting bars or is it harmful to them?

No don’t put anything like that or lemon juice on the bars. It won’t be at all good for them and often doesn’t stop them. If the hamster is bar chewing you need to address the real problem (usually boredom, stress) instead of trying to find a quick fix really. ie adding more enrichment or increasing the cage size/changing to a barless cage.

Re: Nail biting solition
First of all, as mangoandmimi said, I would suggest making sure there's plenty of enrichment and toys for your hamster to borrow and explore, every hamster tends to be different and it may be wise to swap out some old toys for new ones that will peak out some interest. Add a variety of chews, try different textures and sizes, you could make your own using some loo roll ( there's plenty of youtube videos covering this method). May I also suggest scatter feeding, this way your lil hammy will have to work for its food like it would in the wild. Bar chewing is usually the result of stress or boredom , could you possible show us your set up? xx
