Default Closed eyes?

Hi, I have noticed recently that my syrian, Dusty, has been waking up and moving around his cage with his eyes still closed. It used to be just the one eye, which would open after a few minutes but now it is both eyes and they take quite a while to open. Dusty is 2 years old and I know hamster's eyesight gets worse when they get older, but I was wondering if there was anything I could do to help him?
His eyes don't look sore and he doesn't seem to be in any pain at all, but he walks around his cage and struggles to find which way he should be going.
I have tried not to move his cage around too much so it doesn't get confusing for him, is there anything I can do for him?

Thank you x

This is very common in older hammies and always seems to happen to our OAPs. We just get a damp cotton ball and bathe over the eyelid then ease it open. It doesn't hurt them or anything and sometimes if you do this then leave them they will wash the eye open on their own. If they seem upset about it we just leave it be as they do reley on touch and smell more to find their way about.
