Hamster Hand Question
My little Hamilton looks like he got in a scuffle before I brought him home, and is missing a little bit of his finger. When should I worry about it?[IMAGE][/IMAGE]

Re: Hamster Hand Question
His toe looks quite swollen, I would see about taking him to an exotic vet as it must be uncomfortable for him to walk on.
This might have been due to an fight with a sibling.
Although What type of wheel did he have available to him before you got him? As mesh wheels can rip toe nails out.

Re: Hamster Hand Question
I agree, best to get your vet to have a look at that for you, it could be an injury from a sibling fight or something in the cage he could have caught it on.

Re: Hamster Hand Question
I agree, he most likely got in a fight with a sibling or possibly caught his paw in a wired wheel.
It looks very swollen and sore so I’d take him to the vets ASAP to make sure theres no infection, they’ll probably give him some medication to help with the pain and/or healing as well.

Re: Hamster Hand Question
When Hamilton was in the pet store, he didn't have a wheel, but he had 4 other cage mates in there with him. Currently he has a wheel that is a solid plastic and not mesh that he constantly runs on. He's not limping, but I'll still find a vet for him.

Re: Hamster Hand Question
I would also consider removing his wheel, particularly if it has ridges, just because running on it a lot won’t help bless him!
