Heeelp hamster squeaking while sleeping
I have a hamster named harry and he's 2 years and 3 months old. Since I live in New York its pretty cold but my room is usually heated. He's been recently making squeaking noises in his sleep and it sounds like it happens when he breathes and sometimes he wakes up from it. I know my parents wouldn't let me take him to the vet for a checkup so I'm wondering if this is serious and how to treat it at home. He doesn't show any other signs of discomfort and hes pretty energetic and hungry when he wakes up. Maybe its just a little cold? Im not sure. I would post a video because I have it but I don't know how to

Re: Heeelp hamster squeaking while sleeping
Hope your hammy is ok.
Sounds like respiratory problems.
Can be bad for little hammys

I agree, I would schedule a vet visit to rule out respiratory problems. Hope your lil ham is ok <3

Re: Heeelp hamster squeaking while sleeping
Hi,
You ay the room Harry lives in is heated, a guide temp is 18C or 66F does his breathing sound strange or laboured when he is awake? If it is only when he is sleeping he may even be snoring! Ghost our Hammy snores in his sleep sometimes and it is quite an awful noise you would think something is being murdered...!

Re: Heeelp hamster squeaking while sleeping
Is he only squeaking in his sleep? If he doesn't squeak or show any breathing difficulties when he's out & about in the cage & is eating etc ok then it is unlikely to be a respiratory issue, sometimes they do make odd noises when sleeping but if that's all it is it's not usually something to worry about.
