It does sound as though he's getting better, it's hard to guess what if anything might be causing a reaction, I can't remember if you said what you feed him or whether there might be something in that but if he continues as he is you probably don't have to worry & he'll be ok.
Some of those natural wood houses & toys can be dangerous with all the little tacks in them & do need to be checked carefully, I gave up buying any of those type of things some time ago as for the most part the quality does seem to have gone downhill.
