Default Hamster with grey reddish patch around eye.

Hello, I’m posting this concerning about my dwarf hamster who’s about 5 months old. I’ve noticed that he might have sticky eye or an eye infection . This happened when I changed his previous bedding which was critter care natural ,a paper based bedding mixed with green kat litter(also paper based) and toilet paper to aspen shavings. I didn’t entirely changed it into aspen but I just added it in to his previous mixture. I have found out a few months back that he was allergic to carefresh confetti and he had fur loss back then but was completely healed after two weeks. I stopped using it . Did the aspen shaving have anything to do with his eye infection ? I’ve replaced it with toilet paper now , hopefully his eye gets better.
I have a picture if anyone wants to see it I can email it to u.
