It does sound quick. That is a positive thing so lets hope all is well. The P&H vets are normally open on a Sunday so you could give them a call and see if you could maybe visit and ask how he is doing?

Thanks souffle! Looks like I'll be taking a little shopping trip today to find all these things haha. Oh my, the complications of wet tail sound awful Hopefully he doesn't get them. We took him to the vet 12 hrs after the symptoms showed. Would you say that was pretty quick?

Ahh I didn't really know how to reply since I thought people wouldn't know who I was addressing. Yeah the forum takes a while to get used to, but it's a great community!

Thanks- I hope so too x

Yeah let's hope. I was planning to give them a call today actually. Do they allow visits? I didn't know they did

Good luck with the shopping and sterilizing. Wishing you the very best with the vet call and/or possible visit today. If you have a chance after getting everything ready, please let us know if you have any updates. Btw, what is the name of your ham?

Thanks for your very kind words. I truly appreciate it. I'm glad that I could help you and I pray that your ham will recover fully from wet tail and have no further health complications resulting from it. Thanks, I definitely always strive to give my hams (past and present) the very best life possible. I currently have only one beloved Syrian named Eros (a.k.a. Eros007 or Baby Bee). I had five cherished and very missed hams who sadly have already passed to the bridge; their names were Lancelot, Doc, Baby Truffle, Yin, and Sir Locksley. If you are interested and have the time after all has settled down and your ham is hopefully fully recovered, you can see pics of Eros on her thread titled Eros - A 007 Hammy Secret Agent! in the Syrian Hamster section of HC and view photos of Lancelot, Yin, Sir Locksley, and Eros on page 1, post #10 in Drago's thread titled Learning How To Identify Syrian Color in the Hamster Chat section of HC.

@dreamtree1234

I got an update today, and the vet said he was improving, which is a good sign. The vet said they would give an update tomorrow too. I'm so glad he's starting to feel better.

Thanks for all the thoughtful kind words. My ham's name is Sparky because he's really fast and smart and he's quite a bright spark (if you get me haha). I saw your thread and your post and all your little hammys are so adorable. I can tell you love your hammys with all your heart and you're such a great parent to them. I'm so sorry about Lancelot, Yin, Doc, Baby Truffle and Sir Locksey. I'm sure they're enjoying all the best toys and treats over the bridge and miss you very much. I hope Eros has a long life which you can have many wonderful memories with her

Aww, thanks for the update on your darling Sparky! That is truly excellent news; what a relief!!! I have been extremely worried for the two of you. Hopefully, he will be fully recovered, have no more health complications, and be back in your loving arms again very soon. It is also very kind and reassuring that the vet said they would give you another update tomorrow, too. That will help to put your mind at ease because you certainly don't want to have to keep begging for news when you are already overwhelmed with so many other concerns.

I love Sparky's name and all of the sentiment behind it, too. His name is quite appropriate for this brave, determined trooper. He truly is like a radiant spark, continually shining brightly and never diminishing regardless of the obstacles that life may throw in his direction. I love this little guy and hope he will win his battle and return to you safe and sound. Bless, Sparky, and please give him the strength he needs! xxx

Wow, I'm surprised that you even had time to view Eros's thread or my post on Drago's thread considering all that you are going through right now! I suppose it gave you something else to distract your mind from your other concerns right now. I really, REALLY appreciate your kind, comforting words. I miss my five fur angel-hams every day, but I know they are enjoying their adventures together at the bridge and are always in my heart. I do hope that Eros is with me for a very long time, too. She is truly amazing and keeps my life happier and more entertaining, lol.

@dreamtree1234

Yes its a great relief that he's improving! I really hope he returns to full health with no complications. I'm looking forward to seeing him constantly run on his wheel again happily It was very kind of the vet to give an update tomorrow, and I'm hoping he only further improves. They said that they would also tell us roughly how many more days he needs treatment, but the vet needs to give him another health check first.

I really love Sparky's name too. It really does have so much meaning behind it, but wow the words you put it in were so poetic! You really do have a way with words. But yes, he really is a radiant spark and I hope he continues to shine bright no matter the obstacles as you said. I hope he gains the strength to fight this illness and that he comes back to me healthy. I can’t wait to shower him with so much love, attention, toys and treats. Thank you so much for those kind words xx I really do appreciate them so much.

I’m always looking for distractions to stop worrying aha, but yeah I do have a bit of spare time since I’m currently on summer holidays. I can’t begin to imagine how much you must miss your little hams, but of course they’re always in your heart and they will enjoy wonderful adventures over that bridge like you said ^_^ Little hammys always bring a bit more happiness in our life and they always do cute entertaining things. I love watching my hammy do all these interesting weird things xD Out of curiosity, what’s the meaning behind eros’s name?

It is a relief that the latest news from the vet was positive. I am glad that the vet is being very thorough and taking the time to make sure Sparky is 100% better before releasing him into your care; it would be extremely devastating to have him relapse shortly after returning to you. I hope all of the following updates are positive ones, and he will be able to thoroughly enjoy you deservedly spoiling him.

I am praying that there are no complications for him after all of this. However, just in case he sadly does have them later, you want to be as thoroughly prepared and knowledgeable concerning all of the possible symptoms to watch out for and how to best care for Sparky after he hopefully recovers from wet tail (potential dietary changes, levels of activities, etc.). I hope that he will be one of those very lucky hams that never goes through these potential complications, but I always believe it is better to be safe and prepared rather than be caught off guard and panicking. In other words, always hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

Eros was adopted by me on Feb. 9, 2017; thus, she is my pre-Valentine's Day ham. I came up with several names that I felt were perfect for her and decided Eros will choose her own name by playing a game with me. I called out each name to her as I held out a green treat; whatever name I called that she willingly came to me and ate from my hand would become her official name. She chose Eros and has come to that name ever since. Eros is the Greek, winged-god of Love and is the equivalent to the Roman god Cupid. Like her Greek god counterpart, Eros is very fast, agile, and athletically skilled. She also has a bright, ruby-pink eye and the most adorable, golden-orange, heart-shaped marking in the center, back portion of her white banding. She also always manages to make everyone who knows her fall instantly in love with her just as though she was shooting a love-potion arrow into their heart. At the time I got her, I was told by the owners and all of the employees at an all male pet store that she was definitely a male. By the time I realized that she was indeed a female, I decided to keep her name Eros even though the namesake is a male god, lol.

I'm also glad they're being very thorough. I definitely don't want him to relapse because that would be terrible! Hopefully the following updates will be good, but I haven't received any updates since yesterday sadly. They might call a little later though so I guess we'll see.

Thanks, I really appreciate this advice and it's really helping me a lot I think I will do some more research on possible complications of wet tail and how I could change Sparky's diet and exercise to help with those, but I really do hope that there are no complications. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst is a good motto to have though for definite.

Awww, that's a great way to let your hammy choose her own name ^_^ The meaning behind the name is great, I love it. It's a great match for her too, since she's such a fun, loving, energetic and sweet ham (not to mention the adorable heart mark on her fur). The fact you adopted her near valentines day makes the name match even more. She makes everyone fall in love with her like cupid does; it's so adorable. Eros's name really is the perfect match for her personality (even if she's not a male haha).

Thank you- I really appreciate all the kind, comforting words. The support really means a lot ^_^ I actually got an update today, and the vet said he's doing much better. They'll have to monitor him for 5 days, and if he's doing well he can return home

Awww, I'm glad I put a smile on your face. You're also very kind and you've made me feel a lot better about the whole situation over the last few days. Hugs.
