PLEASE HELP! Dwarf hamster fell and froze.
Hello, this is my first post here!
Guppy was inside of her solid plastic wheel when she fell about 2-3 feet onto the bathroom floor (was in there because I was cleaning her cage). I immediately picked her up and she squirmed around on her back for a moment before she stopped moving. Her tongue was sticking out and her eyes were still open. She appeared to be in a daze. After a minute or two, she walked around normally as if nothing happened. I didn’t notice any signs of injury, she wasn’t limping or anything. I put her back in her cage and she ate a little bit before retreating into her wooden house and going to sleep. She would usually be running on her wheel at this hour (4 AM). I think the loud noise from the impact of the plastic hitting the hard floor may have startled her, which caused her to freeze up. I really hope she isn’t suffering from any internal injuries. I also hope that her hearing wasn’t affected by this. What do you guys think? Do you think she will be okay?

Re: PLEASE HELP! Dwarf hamster fell and froze.
It's important you get her up and check her very carefully now as she should have had time to recover from the shock of the fall. Internal injuries make take some time to come to light so she does need a good allover check. Watch her movement and look for signs of pain like limping, bruising, discharges, blood anywhere, wheezy breathing and see a vet immediately if anything is amiss. Hopefully she will be OK after the fall but you never can tell if they have fallen especially on to a hard floor like this.

Re: PLEASE HELP! Dwarf hamster fell and froze.
I hope she is ok. As Souffle says, best to get a vet check. When doing a cage clean I find it best to put our hammy in his (quite large) pet carrier with bedding and a little house and some food and put it somewhere quiet (on our bed usually). Our hammy usually just goes to sleep in it if it's during the day. They need constant supervision when out of the cage if not in a pet carrier or another cage xxx
