syrian male not moving
its about 12:00 am, and i just came into my room to find my hamster near his house. he wasnt moving, but i assumed it was because i came up to him suddenly. i offered him a treat that he normally loves, but he wouldnt take it, so i stroked him and no reaction. if he was on edge he'd react and i'd be able to tell, but he stood as still as a rock. then i checked his hearing by clicking my fingers and whistling and no reaction. i then picked him up and offered him the treat again, but no luck, so i put him back down and he hasnt moved since. im pretty worried about him, as he's never had anything wrong with him.

Re: syrian male not moving
ok, so just realised my cat was in the room and simon moved very slightly, so it couldve just been that he was playing dead to make my cat go away. not quite sure, so ill keep a close eye on him.

They will often freeze in one position is scared. Once they realise they are safe they will move again.

Hahaha, my hamster plays dead too, but not against a cat, but against my boyfriend...LOL
After a while of playing dead, my hamster falls asleep

They really do! It must be incredibly handy when facing a real predator Sorry to hear you've had such a scare from the little guy!
