Talking Longhaired Syrian - Any tips and tricks?

Hey there everyone!

I'll be getting a new hammy next week and it's the first time that I'll be getting a long haired syrian!

Since I have never had one before I wanted to ask you all, if you have any tips and or tricks for caring for a long haired hammy!

I'm thankful for any messages, as basic or as complex they may be!

Thanks in advance and have a nice day!

I used to use a toothbrush to brush my nephews long haired Syrian hamster. I didn’t need to do it that often. That was along time ago now though.

You may want to use a substrate that doesn’t get stuck in the hamsters fur. Not sure what is best though.

You are lucky being in Germany! Check out Rodipet foods. They do a food called Teddy Hamster futter junior. This is meant to be for long haired young Syrians. It is said to help digestion especially if the hamster ingests long fur when grooming themselves.
An old soft toothbrush head is good for brushing as CMB said.

I use fitch paper bedding for my !ong haired hamsters. It does get a bit caught up in their hair but never had any matted fur.

I also use a soft tooth brush to groom them, rarely needed though.

I love fluffy syrians x
