Diabetes!
Hi!
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, unis been mad!
I'm pretty worried about Morty. He's showing two signs of diabetes: lots of drinking and a wet corner that needs changing frequently - and I was just wondering what my next steps should be
After scouring the internet for hours I've found lots of debate about seeking vet attention, and since Morty is absolutely fine in all other aspects (eating normally, zooming around, friendly, bright eyes) I was wondering what else I could do as a hamster mum to help him out.. His diet is strict, lots of protein and fiber, no sweet treats (he turns his nose up at them anyway!) and I'm trying to track down some wee sticks so I can monitor him accurately
So basically, what I'm asking is; when is vet attention necessary? When he starts to lose weight? Or can I just have faith in the diasticks and his diet, and clean out his wet corner?

Re: Diabetes!
These are the ones that I use... sometimes a normal pharmacy sells them but make sure that they sell you the right ones (the ketostix alone won't work) but if you can't find them you should be able to get them from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Keto-Diasti...ds=ketodiastix
Vectis Hamstery has some information on her website about diabetes that might be worth a read: Vectis Hamstery and Exotics - Diabetes in Hamsters
