Re: Poorly Robo
aw after reading all this, I want to change my hammy of the month vote!
So glad it ended well. That must have been awfully scary .
And yes, I removed all the fluffy stuffs from Chewbaccas house this week (I had three types - Rotostak, P@H and a purpley coloured one). He is now on toilet roll. He has no idea what to do with it, he is using it like a blanket! I might have to shred more for him hehe.

Re: Poorly Robo
I am so glad to hear that he is recovered and your perseverance saved him. He looks fabulous too.
If you don't mind I will cross post what happened to other forums where people insist the bedding is safe.
Bless him the little man. What a traumatic ordeal. And your vet sounds like a star too

Re: Poorly Robo
PLease do, the more people that know about this the better, it was awful to watch him go through it, and I'd hate to think of anyone else's hamster going through it, and even worse without the happy ending.
The vet was fantastic, we were in four times in a week, as she wanted him in every other day. I didn't see any other animals smaller than a rabbit there when I was in, so I don't think they get too many tiny hammies like Jam. She did every single thing she could to help him pull through, I am so grateful!

Re: Poorly Robo
Oh my poor little Jam's horrible ordeal has been stickied! Or have I just failed to notice this forever? Good, hopefully it will help save a few tiny little fluffies the same awful experience, or even worse.

Re: Poorly Robo
I saw the link to this recently - its definetly the best way to tell people about the fluffy bedding, so well worth being stickied as far as I'm concerned
It got us to cut the fluffy bit off a hammock since a certain daft ham kept showing more interest in it than was good... And I'm considering taking it off the other hammocks (currently untouched and belonging to other hams), so Jam has had an effect really recently
As I've said, its a really effective way of making people aware of the risks. Until I saw this I accepted the risks but was never really sure because the way it had been presented seemed to be a bit hyped up in most cases. Now I really get it and have a lot more understanding of it all, so thanks to you for writing what you did, and to Souffle who linked this for someone recently. I am glad Jam recovered from this in the end

Re: Poorly Robo
Thank you. I totally agree, the reality of either having or reading a first hand experience brings it home how serious this issue is. My beautiful little Jam bug is at the bridge now, but he did fully recover and have a lovely long happy life before it was his time.

Re: Poorly Robo
Yeah, I know Jam has gone, but its still good he recovered to enjoy the rest of his life
And yeah, its surprising how much of a difference reading this made. I'll be linking to this in threads about fluffy bedding from now on, it'll have much more of an impact than the vague words I usually say, and definetly more of an impact than when everyone just says that its bad without explaining why properly.
