Er... Yeah, what NileCrocs said. If you read the last post on the first page of this thread you'll see the proof that it was definetly fluffy bedding and Jam was very lucky to make a full recovery. Wet tail drops wouldn't have helped but avoiding fluffy bedding would have prevented it, unfortunately far too many of us join this site trusting that if its sold its safe - this thread is good to show people that just because its sold, it isn't always safe.

Really? I had a Chinese hamster who had diarrhea and blood in feces and the vet told me it was wet tail? we managed to cure it but he caught it again a few weeks later and this time it had the best of him...

Is aspen wood shavings ok? I have used this for all my hamsters with some loo paper as burrowing material.

hey i'm sorry to hear this
but like what other people have said it may be the fluffy wool bedding I have heard numerous horror stories about the fibres sticking to the hamsters warm if you want to keep your hamster warm please use towel or shavings I use toilet tissue and kitchen roll I hand my hamster a square of it and then they will create their own nests.
thanks for reading please let me know how he gets on

If by "towel" you meant anything made of cloth, DON'T. If the hamster tries to shred it, as s/he almost certainly will, the fibres pose the same dangers as those found in fluffy bedding. Paper kitchen roll is little better since it's extremely tough and most have been designed to not fall apart on contact with water, putting your hamster at risk of impaction should it be swallowed or pouched.
