Hamster poop?
Hi there. My Syrian male hamster has started to pass different shape poop. It is also different in colour. Its Black and not As moist (hate That word) As it was before. The shape is reminds me of If his normal poop was super dry. So a Black dried out poop. I dont know How Else to explain it But should i worry?

Re: Hamster poop?
These do look quite normal to me. Hamsters produce two types of poop. One is the softer type which is re-eaten and passed through the gut twice to get all the nutrients out and the other is the hard dry pellet stuff which is fully processed food.
Diet can change the consistency slightly so if they have a lot of vegetables for example it may be softer. Check the water bottle is working well and he is getting enough fluids from this. Sometimes the ball in the spout can stick a bit.
I wouldn't worry too much about these and just monitor for any major problems like diaorrhoea or bloating in which case a vet visit would be needed.

Re: Hamster poop?
Broccoli used to make Ivy rather loose. But I know other people's hams are fine with it.
Have a thought for the poor Opticians everywhere selling the very popular 1-day Moist daily disposable contact lenses.
