Default Eyelid problem

Hello all,
so here i am, posting in healthcare, it happened to me also.

Sheldon, my male 11months old winter white, had a small patch of skin on his eyelid that was looking a little sore and there was some fur missing. I realized that this happened because of him rubbing the eye against the metal bars of the cage when he was biting it. I blocked the place and he stopped chewing the bars, and the fur started growing back and everything was ok in a few days.

Now, it happened again. The sore eyelid spot is back, but i cant find out if he is biting the bars. I cant hear anything in the night. Before, when he used to bite them, i could see him and hear him without problem, it was actually annoying. So now im thinking - what if its some infection or something?

He is eating and drinking and running around, perfectly normal. So i decided to call the vet tomorrow and make an appointment. She can trim his nails and maybe give me some cream or drops or something to help him.

I will post a picture here and write again, to tell you what the vet said, in case this happens to someone else.

Styes are really common in winter whites. Normally they go away without treatment, but if the hamster is particularly old or it is very large then antibiotics may help.

It could also be that he is not bar chewing but rubbing it on something else. Our Harriet rubbed her mouth but chewing the edge of her plastic globe toy! Once removed and replaced with a cardboard turret it grew back nicely. Check your other toys for rough edges.
Hope sheldon is soon beck to normal.

Yeah that's a stye.

Some fuciderm gel might help, but i'd tend to leave it untreated (assuming the hammy is under 18 months or so) as over-treating eye problems seems to make them re-occur more.

So,
its not a stye! Vet said it just...eee eye canal cloaked up? (no idea how to write it in english). She said it doesnt hurt him, and that its best to just leave it like that. That if it started really growing that she could remove it surgically, but that now there is no need for it. Im so happy he doesnt need any treatment and stuff... Thank you all for your support!
btw. i liked the previous forum more

Update: even if the vet said that eye doesnt need any treatment, i was a little annoyed that Sheldon has such a thing on his eye. There was no way to know how much and if it bothered him. So i went to a forum and had some advice given from an experienced dwarf breeder - she recommended some non antibiotic eye drops, which can do no harm but can do some good. I started using them 3 times a day and after some ten days the eye looks a little better...im really happy.
