Weight Loss and Storing Food
I had to split my hammies up after one became injured. So they are in seperate cages now which is actually good coz i can monitor how much each eats.
I have a mummy and a baby WW and until i split them up they were near enough the same size with the baby being slightly smaller. You wouldnt have been aple to tell who's who if you's only saw one.
Since they have been apart, the baby (about 9months old) has lost LOADS of weight. I weighed them the other day and mummy was 59g and baby was 37g. I cleaned her out the other day and found at least two human handfuls of food stored in her house. Reassuringly, mummy had stored food in her house too but no where near as much as baby had.
Is this ok?/healthy for her to do this? I give them both fresh food everyday so it's not like they are without food.
At first i was worried that she had a prolapsed bowel or something similar as i have heard large amounts of food turning up when this happens but her botty seems to be absolutely fine, clean and healthy so i disregarded that theory.
Any help, advice or views would be appriciated. I'm hoping it's just natural or something to do with the weather being colder (hibernation?)
Thanks! Jess
