Exclamation Eating Playsand?

I think my hamster is eating his playsand I put in his cage for bathing. Is this going to create serious health issues? Should I take the sand out? I just brought him home an hour ago

I wouldn't worry over it to be honest. A bit of sand being ingested won't hurt, but if it appears he's taking mouthfuls of it, that's when I'd be concerned. They naturally ingesst some when they groom anyways so it's not truly a concern. My hamsters have always had this odd habit
