Substrate allergies?
As you may well know, Mushu begun snuffling last Friday, so I took him to the vet. She could hear some noise from his lungs with her stethoscope, so prescribed him a 3 week course of 1.5 ml of Baytril once a day. He has now been on Baytril for 6 days, but I am still hearing some snuffles. It got me thinking: is it possible that this could be caused by his substrate, rather than a cold?
I have Mushu on Back2Nature pellets, which seem to tangle the least in his long fur.

Previously, he was on carefresh and before that woodchippings. He had been on back2nature for 8 days before the snuffles started. But, maybe I just did not notice them at first.
I didn’t think hamsters were ever allergic to back2nature as it seems natural and non dusty. Is it possible that Mushu is allergic?

Re: Substrate allergies?
It's just paper as far as I know so I doubt very much he would be allergic to that.

Re: Substrate allergies?
Thanks Cypher. That was my feeling, too. I suppose 6 days isn't that long and the snuffling has not worsened. Hopefully the cold shifts soon, but I don't know how long they last in hamsters.
