Default Red patch in Baileys potty corner

Hi everyone, to cut a long story short I have come down this morning and noticed a small red patch in Baileys potty corner, does anyone have any idea as to what it is? Over the past two nights he has been very lively but apart from that he is his usual self, eating and drinking.

Thank you

LL

Does it look like blood? It could be a UTI which can cause bleeding & they don't always appear unwell with that.

My first instinct it looks like blood but it is bright red, but not, what I think, the consistency of blood the only problem is trying to monitor him as I discovered it in his sand which he uses when he is out at night. During the day I'm afraid he is too lazy to come out and uses a corner in his sleeping but. I cleaned him out last night and didn't notice anything but there again I wasn't looking too close for anything out of the ordinary. I will be keeping a very close eye on him.

Thank you Cypher.

If it's a UTI (that's my first thought) then it wouldn't be the consistency of blood, as it would be mostly urine mixed with a little blood. UTIs are painful, horrible things though (I speak from bitter personal experience) so it's best to take him to the vet for a course of antibiotics.

Hi thank you for your responses I do have a Bailey update, I checked his bedding last night and it all looked normal. This morning I checked his corner in his sand (as he only usually uses that at night when he is running on his wheel, he has two potty corners) and thankfully all clear, but I sm keeping a very close beady eye on him.

Thank you

Has he had any red coloured treats? Sometimes they put something special in the toilet corner and colour leaches out. I once thought I found diarrhoea in Charlie's wheel - turns out it was wet food

I hope he is ok. Maybe put a bit of torn up tissue paper over his potty then if it happens again it will show up (if he doesn't remove the tissue paper first that is).

One of his treats is a little on the red side and it did cross my mind that it could have been a possibility as he does not get the brightly coloured treats on a regular basis. I never thought about his bedding as I use shredded paper. Thank you xxxxx
