Default Bald patch/ lump

I wonder if you can advise?

My daughter noticed today that her hammy Mischief has developed a bald patch with a hard, brown looking lump where the fur should be. It doesnt seem to be bugging him, but I am a bit concerned and typically as its a bank holiday weekend I cant get him a check up until tuesday.

Should we be concerned enough to call the emergency vet or is he likely to be ok until Tues? Should we bathe it? Any ideas as to what it could be?

He's a 7mth old syrian if that helps

thanks in advance

Is the bald patch half way down his side sort of where his "hip" would be? If so it is his scent gland, there will be one on the other side too.

Does it look like this?

As hamster get older the scent glands tend to become darker and more raised and pigmented. This adult males glands are perfectly normal. They may appear damp with scent sometimes.

If not this could he have a little cut that has scabbed over? If it seems sore or swollen and is not in the scent gland position then you should see a vet to have it checked out.
