Default Wet Tail Question

I'm about to take on an abandoned hamster that my grandad found wandering around outside. When found he was soaking wet, very skinny and shaky. He is now active and alert in a cage, but I am concerned that the stress of his ordeal may bring on a bout of wet tail. If this does happen, can it spread to my other hamster, Pickles? They are both syrian so obviously will be in seperate cages and will not come into contact with each other, but in the same room? Can anyone give me any advice?
