Default Problems

I just found out zelda has been chewing on the cross bars in her detolf. Is that dangerous for her? I put her in her travel cage straight away, but there's actually teeth marks so some could be in her system?
Is there cause for concern?

There is a potential for risk. You could remove the cross bars and attempt to create a support system for the glass instead as well as use aquarium sealant to seal it into place as well A small amount in her system probably won't cause any problems, but it is definitely wise to take steps now while you can just to be safe!

I wouldn't be worried about any sort of illness yet then!It doesn't look like a lot,so as long as you remove it somehow it will be fine

Oh dear. They find a way to chew something they're not supposed to one way or another, don't they? You'll probably need to keep an eye on her teeth as chewing metal can break their teeth or make them become misaligned. That can be a problem because it means they don't grind down against each other.
I'm not sure you'd want to remove the bars from the detolf though as it is designed to have the frame in there, I don't know if the glass would be strong enough without it. Could you try covering the bars with cardboard as a temporary measure and if there are particular areas she is focusing on, could you try blocking them up with a house or something? I know a couple of people have had this problem before so hopefully one of them can give you some tips of what helped them.

Removing the bars without adding any support will cause problems, but if given a proper support system that is definitely hamster safe it will be fine

She a compulsive digger… putting extra substrate is just am invitation to try and get to it. We've put a tube in front of it for now and we are keeping an eye on her to see if she tries to get down there again.
