Is this lump normal?
My hamster is 8 months old and when i first got him a week after he had pronounced male balls (2 obviously), now it seems as if one has disappeared. He was grooming himself and i took these pictures - to me, it doesn't look normal.. He also scrapes his bum across the floor when out to play

Re: Is this lump normal?
It's hard to tell from the pic but their bits and pieces do come in and out quite a bit. You know him better than anyone and he does sound like he is perhaps uncomfortable down there so I would defo advise a check up with the vet. Do you have a good vet near you that are knowledgable in hamsters? Is this hammie your first hamster? Or your newest addition?

Thanks for replying ! He is my first and oldest, down there it looks like a hole where he'd urinate? Not sure if this is normal. I put him in a glass jar and looked but he kept moving

It is hard to tell from the photo but it doesn't look normal & dragging himself like that doesn't sound good either, I would get your vet to check him out.

Re: Is this lump normal?
He just looks warm to me. The testicles are very mobile within the scrotum and move up and down depending on how warm and or relaxed the hamster is. They can look like peanuts pushing through at odd angles sometimes. Does it look grazed or scraped at all? Does it feel hot and tense?
Infected testicles are very obvious and very red, hot and swollen with a hamster in obvious pain.
Keep an eye on him but at the moment he looks all right to me. The rear vent is his anus and the further forward one you can see is where his penis is and where he wees from

Re: Is this lump normal?
Would he drag/scrape himself like that if he was just warm then?
I don't know enough about syrians but the only one I've seen do that was a dwarf who had problems.
