Re: Old or ill?
Well mites and his scent gland have been ruled out. I wish now I'd asked more. I guess I was just so upset and not thinking properly I know dwarf hamsters are prone to tumours. I'm wondering now if I should go back in or to another vet.

Re: Old or ill?
Don't ever feel daft for thinking about getting a second opinion, many of us in your situation would be thinking the same. This is obviously on your mind, follow your heart badwolf.

Couldn't agree more!
It's hard to stay focused when you get bad news at the vet or are just really anxious I think we've all done that, looked back & wished we'd asked more questions.
If you trust your vet go back, if you have doubts or unsure of them/their experience with hams then maybe look around for another.

Re: Old or ill?
Thanks guys. I think both of you have just cemented my decision to get a second opinion. The vet was nice. I just have this nagging doubt and I think I need to follow my heart or it'll eat away at me. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything possible for him. She said since the antibiotics didn't work it must be a tumour. It just feels a weird shape and I did that feeling of 100% certainty from her.

Re: Old or ill?
When in doubt get it checked out. I'm like you, it would eat away at me.
Any news on that 2nd opinion?
