Closed eyes
Cookie seems to be acting strange, she's an untamed robo hamster, about 18 months old.
Her eyes are half closed and she seems really sleepy and couldn't seem to find her water bottle. Even though nothing's moved
She looks scraggly and just unwell even though I can't see anything physically wrong with her.
I've stopped scatter feeding and put her food in a bowl and I've just mixed up some critical care, to see if it gives her a boost.
Anything else you would suggest?

Re: Closed eyes
She sounds very unwell if she's behaving like that, unless it's very hot where you are & that could be a factor then I think she needs to see a vet.

Re: Closed eyes
Elderly hamsters do start to sleep more and as a rsult their eyes, like ours can get gritty or sticky and if they are a bit stiff or not quite on par they can stop grooming and the eyes can stay shut. Using bathing them with some warm water can gently open them up.
Is she eating when she does get to her food? Some soft food such as egg, baby food or cooked cool chicken can help as well.
But as Cypher says, always visit a vet if in doubt as we cant fully see how she is.
Sending well wishes

Re: Closed eyes
It's strange because now she's running around like normal, eating, climbing, digging, grooming ect

Re: Closed eyes
She seems completely fine this morning, maybe both times she had just woken up

Re: Closed eyes
Glad to hear she seems ok now, it could be that she was still sleepy then but I'd still be on the watch for any signs of illness if that was unusual for her.
