Red spots on abdomen

I'm hoping someone else has come across something similar to this with their dwarf hamster. I've noticed tonight my little one has a pin head sized blood stain just below both front legs but I can't find a source for them. The stains are in pretty much the same place under each leg and I can't feel or see any wounds or scabs but he won't stay still long enough to let me see. From what I can gather they don't seem to be causing him pain so I've no idea what it could be? He's a keen groomer but we've never had this before. I can't see any sign of mites or mange or rashes so I'm not sure where to go next?
