High pitched noise?!
Sweep was just making an odd noise - and as I started typing he stopped. I don't know how to describe it exactly, but it's kind if like when we have a blocked nose and get that funny noise when breathing - sort of like a high pitched noise. It was like that but louder! Sorry I didn't explain that too well ... Is it that there is something wrong, or is he just sleeping?

Re: High pitched noise?!
Have a little peek without disturbing him too much and see if he is asleep. If he is he's probably dreaming about chasing walnuts.

Re: High pitched noise?!
Just checked on him - he wasn't asleep!
The first picture shows where he was when I checked on him - and the other two is him being cheeky!
In number 3 he looks a bit sad!

Re: High pitched noise?!
Aw he does look a bit anxious. I noticed his long house isn't there (or is it on the other side). Have you started getting things out ready for him going to the petsitter? If so he is maybe a bit freaked and wondering what is going on. Just talk gently to him and tell him everything will be fine And give him an extra chew or something.

Re: High pitched noise?!
No, his long bed isn't in there at the moment. It's a bit hot for it and he'd moved out of it before I gave him his "beach" so decided not to put it in for now. Not got anything ready for the petsitter yet - probably do that Monday as he goes on Tuesday. Will miss him! That big pile he is stabding on top of in the first pic his on top of the blue "bucket" I put in there, which had his bedding in, though he been sleeping behind it. Looks like he may have been somewhere within that pile!

Re: High pitched noise?!
He's maybe getting a bit worried by the changes and picking up the vibes that things are changing. You should be asleep Sweep! I think I would always leave the house in even if it's hot so they can come and go even if they choose to sleep somewhere else. You could try putting it back in and see if that settles him. Mind you if you took it out a few days ago he should be used to that by now. Maybe try putting extra nesting paper in in a big pile and see if that settles him. Or maybe something just woke him up - a noise or something.

Re: High pitched noise?!
He's been awake for ages! I've been awake since about 7:45 (VERY unusual for me!) and Sweep was wide awake when I came up to check on him (I slept down with the cat again). Maybe that's the difference? Because I have spent the last 2 nights in another room from him? Or maybe he's watching me, trying to telepathically remind me to buy him more treats when I go out!

Re: High pitched noise?!
Telepathic treat requests. What a clever hamster!
Gopal makes those sorts of noises in his sleep. Awww.
Hope Sweepy is ok.
