Default Do dwarfs live happily on their own ?

We have a lovely little Russian dwarf hamster , he's 4 months old. We rehomed him as a singular hamster though I'd read that dwarfs can live in pairs /groups. Will he be unhappy as a singular or do dwarf hamsters live equally as happily on their own.
He currently does seem very sociable and loves to be handled.
Thank you!

They are fine alone, usually better really, pairs & groups very often fall out & have to be separated.
They don't actually need company at all & can get very territorial so your little guy will be happy in his own space & just interacting with you.

Ah that's good thank you! I was worried he might be lonely. To be honest he and my 4 year old son get on great lol.

Russian Dwarf Hamsters are fine to be kept alone, I had to separate my girls when they started to fight, and they were perfectly happy to be on there own. I think it best to keep all hamster solitary, as it's safer for each hamster. The best companion your hamster can have is yourself and with plenty of toys your hamster will be happy.

What Cypher said He might be easier to tame as well with living on his own. Although some species of dwarf hamsters can live in pairs, it is usually sibling pairs from birth, and even then they can fall out and fight to the death. He will bond with you and have a bit of independence as well and be very happy living by himself. The important thing is lots of enrichment in his cage. Hidey places, deep substrate to dig and burrow in, a good diet, a safe set up without fall risks. Excellent that he is tame to handle Posted at the same time as SKB
