Is childs paint safe for hamsters?

I have a few boxes that i was wanting to paint and put into my hamsters cage. Does anyone know if childs paint can cause any harm to hamsters?

My only concern is the unknown ingredients in the paint.You can get natural paints that you know for sure only contain edible ingredients,which would be 100% safe guaranteed!

Most people in the UK use Plastikote paint, not sure about other countries tbh, you can't always be certain other child safe paints are actually safe for hams.

What are the boxes made of? Plastikote is good for wood.
