Re: Green Poop?!
Mix both.Mazuri on its own doesn't have enough variety, and Higgins on its own doesn't have the right nutrition. You have 60 percent of the Higgins and 40 percent of the Mazuri, which gives roughly 18% protein,6.78% fat,and 7.28% fiber. With some mealworms or other animal protein daily, this diet is actually one of the best you can have in the US!

I love the Higgins brand and all my Hamstery is fed their Vita Garden Plus for Hamsters and Gerbils and also they get a Lab block that is the exact same as Texland, but made by a Rat Fancy breeder so a lot less cost.

Vita Garden isn't as good or something like that from what I've heard.Definitely a good thing you could find cheaper lab blocks though since you do have a lot more hamsters than the average person would have!

Re: Green Poop?!
Elliy did you get Milo to the vet? Or has the poo gone back to normal? Just found green poo in my girl Poppy's nest, dark green quite soft but not diarrhea soft. She eats Harry hamster.

Is she ok?? I''ve never experienced this before, so I'm afraid I don't have any ideas what it could be. But might be worth doing what you did before - monitor her and if it gets worse take her back to the vet. Hope she's ok

Vita Garden Plus from what I can see and read is the same as Sunburst but they add in Fruits and freeze dried Veggies to the Vita Garden of course for a dwarf this would not be good. Neither has the recommended protein levels which means you must supplement with some food that is better protein levels but here even Hazel Hamster is not a complete diet cause our Government doesn't approve some very needed ingredients which is why the company had to rename it to Hazel Hamster.
By all means Hazel Hamster is still the closest to correct if you can handle the cost to buy it. I also mix my own seed mix to help boost the protein levels of my seed mix. Been using Higgins for over 6 years now and loving it.

Re: Green Poop?!
I'll do my own analyses of the two and see for myself which one I use,but definitely Higgins brand in terms of the mix portion of the diet. It's extremely high quality and can be found at a relatively good price for its quality, but I was honestly willing to pay more than the mix itself costs to begin with.
