Smile My Ginger a new mamma

Well i am proud to announce that my little Ginger just gave birth to 4-5 little pups. It was such a wonderful experience to watch at a distance. Now to figure what is expected now.

Lots of yummies for mum and leave them alone until you see them coming out of the nest (the hardest bit of all I imagine)!

Look forward to updates and pics once their eyes have opened.

You could PM Nancy's Hamsters or wait for someone experienced to post?

You can start handling them when their eyes open. Start out slowly as they will get tired after a few minutes. Just go from there

I should also say...make sure to handle them over something like a small box. Little ones have a tendency to try and bolt when you first start handling them so you want to makes sure that they will not fall more than a couple inches and they can't fall and take off running. I use a small box and transfer each one into the box as I handle them. When I get through them all I start moving them one at a time back to their bin.Nancy was the one that suggested to do it this way and it works wonderfully

Unless you have three pups and all have obvious differences to be able to tell them apart Tee hee. Until day 18 I leave Mom and pup be and only do quick food fill ups and water bottle refills and do them during the day so as not to disturb the new Mother as some will get upset and cull the whole litter.
