Default Please help me!

As some of you know I rescued a ham last week, I've had her 4 days and she's been settling in great. However when I came in from work today at around 6 pm, she's normally full of energy, she was still sleeping. So I waited another hour and she woke up and moved then I saw there was dhiarrea on her bedding! I'm so worried! It's now 9 pm and she's gone back to sleep with her back hunched. I can't believe it.

She looks well and her bum area is clean and mostly dry, no bad smells though. She has also just took some toasted bread and had a drink of water that I held for her.

I hope it's just a one off and she's not feeling well therefore hasn't slept and she'll be good to go again in the morning.

Can't make vets in the morning either

Please help.

It could just be an upset from the move and the change in everything in her life but it does need very close watching. As soon as she is up can you remove the messed on bedding and give her clean. Try and leave the nest more or less intact though if possible. Stick to plain dry foods and if she seems lethargic or has any more overnight I would see a vet tomorrow as she would have the best chance if you treat it early.
You can get a Probiotic powder in P@H called Pro C which will help boost her tummy.
A little arrowroot biscuit can also help ( you can get those in most supermarkets)
Hope she is OK though

souffle. Thank you so much. I'm obviously expecting the worst after Suzi. Her water and dry food are right next to her now where she's sleeping. I'm staying in the room with her tonight, hoping she wakes me up running in her wheel. She seems well enough, I only found one blob of diarrhea but the fact it's diarrhea plus her sleeping (still sleeping now at 10 pm) makes me worried. I'll take the morning off if I have to. Is it possible they can just have 1 minor bout of diarrhea and just have a bad day then be up and running again?

Thanks souffle. Much appreciated as always.

Try not to worry too much. Some hamsters do sleep more than others. Ours sleeps from the early hours of the morning through to midnight each day (or at least stays in his house all that time). As Souffle says it's maybe just a bit of a culture shock. Just wondering if a bit of scrambled egg might tempt her when she's awake - egg is binding and helps bung things up. If you make it without any milk maybe, just the egg.

Although she was active the first few days, some of that can be excitement and stress and she may be settling into a more chilled routine now. If you think she is ill though, try and get a vet appointment when you can. I hope she's ok x

Thanks for the reassuring words serendipity. She was mental for the first 3 days thats true. She's just been up for a wee in the corner. Now back in her nest. Didn't get a chance to see if she had diarrhea'd again
