Re: Please help me!
She may have reacted to the raw veggies she had but since then, she seems fine. So if feeding a little veg, don`t feed lettuce, just feed a garden pea, a little nibblet or a chunk of baby sweet corn, a small piece of apple (Royal Gala variety are nice) and raw broccoli, cauliflower/carrot that type of thing and only around half an inch in size.
If your working in the daytime, hamsters tend to sleep all day and only emerge for a drink or to ouch some food and then go back to the nest, so all normal. Don`t worry if she`s not awake when you arrive home.
Keep things simple. Don`t do full cage cleans, only spot clean and don`t use cleaning products, they are not necessary unless wet tail is actually diagnosed. Maybe keep a radio on low in the room too if your out as this can sometimes help with a little background noise if nobody is in. I always do this if I go out even though my Russian dwarf sleeps all day! I don`t like to leave him in total silence all day and all night! x

Re: Please help me!
Thanks for the advice. Im aware they sleep all day it was just a shock when I found diarrhea followed by her not getting up the whole night considering her young age. Hopefully it was just a small reaction to the veg I gave her and she was just feeling a bit off. My other hamsters immune system was bullet proof but I guess Poppy needs time. Probably my fault that she is feeling this way . Lesson learnt. I'll let you know how she is when I'm home this evening.

Re: Please help me!
I had a hamster that got diahrea a few days after i got it once. I had alfalfa hay on hand so I just offered some of that (and made sure the hamster actually are some) and it was cleared up by the next day. If you're worried about diahrea I would try alfalfa first and if possible grab some wet tail drops to have on hand just in case. I don't think it is wet tail, as if it was you would see diahrea all around the rear end. Make sure your hamster is eating an drinking normal. it could just be a stomach upset from diet changes and a new environment.

Please don't blame yourself! You certainly didn't do anything wrong in giving her veg! And if it was also something to do with her being a little stressed from moving etc then that definitely isn't your fault! I think you said she was a rescue? Do you know what things she ate before you got her? It may just be that she isn't used to having veg - that's not your fault at all! However I would try not giving her anything except her regular food and water for a few days, just to let her tummy settle, and then introduce things again slowly. Maybe she might prefer the veg cooked? I had once hamster that wouldn't eat any veg unless it was raw, and another that only ate it if it was cooked! Most of the others just ate whatever it was LOL. They're all different and all like different things. I'm sure she'll be fine, though

Re: Please help me!
I've never heard of alfalfa being used for diarrhoea it's so high in fibre I would have thought it might just add to the problem!
Rsclio197 it's just dried alfalfa plant & looks very much like normal hay, you can get quite a lot of hamster toys & chews made from it, too much isn't good as it's high in calcium & you have to be very careful with any hay, checking for sharp bits & removing them & hams have been known to get mites from hay too.
I agree you have nothing to blame yourself for, all hams are different & adjust to new things & new foods differently, it certainly doesn't sound as though you did anything you shouldn't have done or fed excessive amounts of anything.
Hope she's up & about & feeling better when you get home.
