Unhappy Poorly Hammy!

About 4 months ago I noticed a purple/red lump on my hammys back leg, the vets gave her anti-inflamatories but they didn't really help. It's slowly getting bigger and is about 1cm big. Because of where it is and being close to a main nerve, the vet said they wouldn't like to operate.

I've noticed she's noticed it more now and keeps licking it. I'm worried that it will get bigger, burst (whatever it is) or affect her leg and I just don't know what to do! I've noticed in the past week or so that she is less active and loves cuddles more! She is only 1 yeah 7 months and has lived such a good and healthy life. I worry I've done something to cause it but her house is plenty big enough, not harmful, she eats healthily and always have plenty of time to run around outside her cage.

What do you suggest I could do to help her? Any idea what he lump could be? and anyone else had a similar experience?

I'm so sorry your hammy isn't doing too good. I've not had it happen to any of mine but I know other members on here have experience with various lumps and bumps. From what I know they can be anything from a cyst to a tumour so you need to be prepared for that possibility. It's possible if she's licking it that hers causing her a little discomfort. As its changed so much can you take her back to the vet to get him to look again? He may be offer a different view based on how it's changed or give her some medicine if she is in discomfort.

I hope you get some proper answers soon x

I agree with velma that if it's changed & as it's been a while now all you can do is go back to the vet & see if they can offer more help.
There are a few things it could be but we can't really guess, you do need your vet to have a proper look for a diagnosis, I hope she'll be ok & the vet can help.
If it begins to make getting around difficult you may need to make a few changes to her cage to be sure she doesn't struggle to get to her water or food & won't fall from any levels.

Thanks for your replies! I've booked for her to go back to the vet. Maybe they can try something else! She can still get to her water, food etc...runs through her pipes and runs on her wheel. She also still loves to pull herself up onto ledges too...cheeky thing! She's just sleeping more is all and noticing her poorly leg now!
