Hamster Hairloss
Hi Folks,
Well from my post last month when I thought that Forrest was on his last legs and was heading to the Hamster wheel in the sky.
Forrest after a couple of days was fine again woohoo..
So a little help please, Forrest has often lost his fur around his scent glands on his side, it has always grown back after a few weeks, ever since I rescued a girlie Ham, she was rehomed a couple of weeks later.
Now his left side around the gland is quite bald and now his tummy is following suit. His fur now doesn't seem to be growing back, his skin is nicely pink and healthy, there is no sign of any mites, parasites etc, he doesn't scratch other than what would be considered as normal for a ham.
He is eating as normal standard hamster mix, plus he gets monkey nuts sultanas as a treat, fresh food every day i.e. carrot, cucumber, apple, banana etc. He is drinking fine etc being 2 he is not as active as he was spends a lot of time in his nest other than that he seems quite fine.

Re: Hamster Hairloss
My two old boys have the same problem. So I think it must be just old age. May I ask how old your hammies are?

Re: Hamster Hairloss
It sounds as though it's probably just due to age, as long as he stays healthy in other respects I wouldn't worry too much.

Re: Hamster Hairloss
I agree with Cypher it might be just old age and 2 years old is quiet old for a hamster
