Default Probiotics?

I was just wondering if anyone could give me any more information on what they actually do/help with.
I got given a few sachets for Hugo when he had soft droppings and I have some leftover.
I have an elderly rat and she does sometimes struggle going to the toilet, she is rather bloated, but when I took her to the vets the vet didnt seem concerned about it, she say she looked bloated though, but didnt take any action or anything. Its almost like she's very slightly constipated sometimes.

I was wondering if maybe they would help Rosie in anyway?

I have heard they help with the good bacteria in the guts or something like that?
Would they be any use for Rosie?

They would be good for Rosie and are bacteria that aids the Filia in the gut to move digestion on. You may also wish to try a small bit of natural Pumpkin on Rosie it has to be real pumpkin not pie filling type pumpkin. Pumpkin will balance the gut aiding in constipated animals to go easier, and will firm up loose droppings if from just and upset tummy.

Probiotics help to maintain the correct balance of bacteria in the gut which in turn creates efficient digestion & better absorption of nutrients, a healthy body & stronger immune system generally so they are good to give to any animal that is sick & especially with any digestive system problems.
I've never had to try pumpkin but I have read that it's really good for animals digestion whether they have constipation or diarrhoea, it's a general balancer so worth a go.

Extra fruit and veg should help if it is constipation.

Thankyou both of you
I have never tried pumpkin on any animal before, but I have heard about it. Will I have to buy a whole big pumpkin or can you get it in puree form or in smaller portions? No one likes pumpkin so it would go to waste! If not, i'll just buy a whole one, but i'd rather not if possible!

I will try the probiotics with her and see how it goes

I don't know if butternut squash has a similar action to pumpkin or not but that's probably all you'll be able to find in the UK at this time of year, you can usually get small bags of prepared, chopped squash or buy a bag of frozen just to use a little at a time.
Hopefully the probiotics will sort it out anyway.

The thing with the probiotics is, because its in her water, the others are drinking it as well! Oh well, they are all going to end up with super healthy guts I guess! haha

It won't do the others any harm at all, it depends which probiotic you use maybe but I usually put it on a little piece of veg or other food & it's taken readily, water bottles can get a bit icky with probiotics in them so do need a good clean every day.
