Hi all

Been for the biopsy this afternoon (she bit the nurse!) And vet has given her some antibiotics (10 days worth, that's more than you get on the NHS these days!) in syringes for Obi to have orally.

Does anyone have any tips on the best way to give this without us ending up missing half a finger like the nurse??

Thanks in advance!

I don't blame Obi. I don't like strange people with sharp objects near me either. Hope you are exaggerating about the nurse missing half a finger though.

When I've sat an thought about it I think she's more like 20 months old as I didn't add the age she was when we got her to how we've had her, doh!

Sorry to hear your hammie also has a lump Cinnamon Bear. Hope he/she is doing ok. We've been spoiling Obi a bit to make up for us examining her at every opportunity, she got the biggest walnut going last night It is hard to weigh up their quality of life versus their age and health.

Will let you know how we get on.

Thank you, hoping you'll only have good news!

Lol yes a little exaggeration, but she did draw blood! I just know from prior experience how sharp and how deep those teeth can go!

My dwarf bit me so hard one time, she bit 1.5 cm into my finger. I did not realize she had just given birth. If I had it might have saved me a trip to the doctor.

Well needn't have worried, Obi seemed to really enjoy the antibiotics. Must have been carrot flavoured

Such great news about Obi! So glad he's enjoying the antibiotics. Baby food is good for helping disguise the antibiotics but sounds like the carrot flavour is going well.
Antibiotics can upset their digestive systems so might not eat as much of their mix. I did scrambled egg for mine along with Cow N Gate Baby Cauliflower Cheese and Heinz Brocolli & Cheese. Because it's soft, it's gentler on the stomach.
Or you could give some Probiotic Powder daily, I used this as mine was on antibiotics for 6 weeks. I got it from P@H. A pinch on the baby food and stir in.

Glad Obi is taking her meds well. Would recommend some pro c bioitic to take, mixed in with baby food or porridge seems to work, well did for Neptune!

Have you had the results from the bioipsy?

Why would you go to the doctor for a hamster bite? Its easily taken care of at home...
